I like when a car shows a little tread. It's flirty.

I think that’s a line from one of the Cars movies.

It would be better if they were pointed the right direction. Sure, there’s not much of a hill, but the tires should be pointed so they hit the curb if the car starts rolling. Yeah, there’s no curb, but those bushes would do the trick.

When there is no curb you are supposed to face the wheels towards the side of the road you’re on (as seen above).

When you are pointed downhill , you are correct. It looks like that car is pointed uphill. It looks mostly flat, but driveways pointed into garages are usually sloped away from the house so that water drains away, not into the house.

Handbook says otherwise.

“When facing uphill without a curb, turn the wheels sharply to the right. If the vehicle rolls, it will go off the road rather than into traffic (Diagram 2-53 C).”

If he pointed them to the left, the bushes would stop the car before it made it to the street. As it sits now, it will either roll into the street or hit that tree. Bushes do less damage than trees.

Again, just going by the manual.

“Again, just going by the manual.”

Yet ignoring the situation. The manual is for parallel parking on a hill. This is parking perpendicular to the road in a driveway.

Ok....There is no doubt about it. Your method is the only right one and not missing anything else in the picture....

This reminds me of a photo thread on s2ki where only candid and unstaged pics were allowed. People got so mad whenever someone would post a picture with a turned wheel.

In my case I was just too lazy to right my wheels.

Nothing would stop my car where I’ve parked it. It doesn’t matter what direction I point my wheels. My driveway is quite flat too.

Quite flat = probably not rolling away. I’m guessing the wheel direction is the result of making a left turn into the drive.

Kinja'd!!!1

Correct. I usually leave the wheels turned because I don’t really need to right them. Makes for an interesting surprise for the morning commute though.

The Sonata I rented would give visual and audible warnings on startup if the wheels weren’t straight.
